What is radon ?

Radon is a cancer-causing gas that is orderless, tasteless, and invisable.

Where does radon come from?

Radon comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in the soil. When uranium is broken down it gets into the dirt, water, and air you breathe. Radon is not restricted to particular locations and it can be found in a variety of buildings including schools, homes, and office buildings.

Any home, old or new, can have a radon problem as it moves up from the ground and in your home where it can build up. Radon can enter the home through cracks in the foundation, well water, or even building materials.

Can radon effect your health?

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Surgeon General's Office has estimated that radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer, and responsible for as many as 20,000 deaths a year in the United States.
